I just heard a documentary on this trednd. What a sad stat for North America when we are raising a generation of people who can't do things and are ruled by their fears. When I was young I had many responsibilities at home, a job, and had to contribute my orphan's benifit to the household food bill. I was well equipped for adult life. I moved out of the house at 18 and NEVER came back. When I was in high school, I was chomping at the bit to enter the adult world. I guess that's why so many of my friends dropped out and worked in the mills, moil rigs, and other resource industries. The worl has not changed, our children have. Immigrants still come to this country and thrive when our youth refuse to embrace the challenges handed to them. Pure and simple luxury. We need to reverse this trend. Abandon talk of self esteme and provide real challenges to overcome. then the young can look to whet they have overcome and take solice in their abilities.

Our adult daughter moved home with her partner and their baby. Piece work, on welfare (which they have to pay back when they bring in any money on their own), rental housing not in their income bracket. They have been with us for 4 months and we are feeling the stress financially and emotionally. Our daughter is not the same person who left, her beliefs have changed and no longer match ours, she and partner smokes cigarettes and marjuana which we don't because of our health (we are in our 60's). His beliefs are not like ours either which makes conversation difficult, not knowing when we are being offensive or not. Before they moved in we were on our way to getting out of debt now every extra penny goes to supporting our family of 5 and our pets. There are some good times but it is hard with our finances quickly drying up. I know this won't last forever but the stress is so great I need someone annonymous to unload on. Thanks for this.
